ToccataTouch is based on the illusion of playing with the forces of a physical environment. A surface reacts to touches and accelerometer variations, changing its form and giving the perception of modifying the equilibrium of the environment. An arpeggio of synthesized tones and noises is generated to give supporting feedback to the user’s interaction and to make the user experience more immersive.
The application has been developed using openframeworks and Box2d, a two dimensional physics simulator engine. The 3d effect is just an illusion created by connecting particles as well as overlaying transparency.
The app is inspired by an installation called Toccata developed for the United Colors of Benetton Live Windows project.
